About the role

The Bilingual Community Health Worker (CHW)/Medical Interpreter provides health education and outreach to the public on topics including obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancers, and mental health issues. Serving as a bridge between communities, healthcare, and other social systems, CHWs collaborate with physicians, nurses, or health workers to deliver culturally appropriate health education or basic screening services while providers conduct medical exams or provide medical services. They also connect people with necessary services to promote disease prevention, exercise, and educational programs tailored to client needs.

Additionally, this role provides accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services to facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare or public health staff. The position supports language access across clinical and public health settings by interpreting spoken and/or written information related to medical services, public health programs, and health-related topics, ensuring individuals with limited English proficiency can fully understand and participate in their care and services.

Responsibilities
