Full Time Bartender - Philadelphia Distilling

About the role

Philadelphia Distilling features a beautiful tasting room and enclosed patio that can host over 150 guests, plus an exclusive 65‑seat private events space on the 4th floor. After a dedicated prep day on Wednesday, regular bar service runs Thursday‑Sunday, often alongside concurrent private events. The venue also hosts full buyout weddings, corporate events, and smaller gatherings throughout the year, and maintains a robust offsite event/tasting program that may require local travel. The Philadelphia Distilling Bartender creates memorable, unique experiences in the tasting room, delivers efficient food and cocktail service, entertains and educates guests, provides effective beverage service, and maintains the bar’s cleanliness and overall appearance.

Responsibilities

• Split time between bar and floor service so every guest receives service from a capable, informed cocktail bartender.
• All tips are pooled and shared evenly regardless of daily role assignment.
• Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through brand education and cocktails from the seasonal menu or curated off‑menu drinks while maintaining positive guest relations.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of fall Philadelphia Distilling products, as well as classic and modern classic cocktails.
• Execute proper bartending techniques when preparing a wide variety of cocktails, ensuring accuracy in recipes, garnishes, ingredients, portion sizes, replication, and presentation to the program’s standards.
• Work with the front‑of‑house team to maintain an efficient work pace and ensure guest satisfaction.
• Help develop new bar offerings such as seasonal cocktails and specials.
• Maintain the highest health, hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state, and government guidelines.
• Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, including prohibitions on service to minors, intoxicated individuals, and driving under the influence.
• Participate in continuous training and educational opportunities to further develop brand advocacy concepts, including seasonal menu testing and practice rounds.
• Report to the Bar Manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a craft‑cocktail bartender.
• RAMP certified or willingness to attain RAMP certification within 90 days of hiring.
• Proven mastery of craft cocktail theory and execution, plus a solid fundamental knowledge of spirits and distillation.
• Service‑oriented mindset – proactive in looking for ways to help guests and other staff members.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information effectively to guests and staff.
• Comfortable working in cooperative team environments as well as independently.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
• Ability to operate and input orders into a point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
• Physical demands: frequently required to speak, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to safely lift and carry a service tray containing beverages and remove empty glassware or flatware from tables.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
• Must be able to stand/work for up to 8 hours.

Schedule

Full‑time position based at Philadelphia Distilling in Philadelphia, PA; work schedule is Wednesday through Sunday each week.
