About the role
HireArt is partnering with May Mobility to find Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs).
Responsibilities
- Monitor autonomous vehicle behavior in real time to ensure safe operations.
- Maintain readiness to disengage autonomy and assume manual control when necessary.
- Demonstrate conservative, safety-first judgment during all vehicle operations.
- Identify unexpected AV behaviors and log events accurately for engineering review and system improvement.
- Serve as a company representative for passengers and partners, answering rider questions confidently and professionally.
- Ensure a safe and efficient rider experience from pickup to drop-off.
- Work assigned shifts that may include early mornings, late nights, or weekends.
- Maintain consistent attendance and readiness for safety-critical work environments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with 3+ years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
- Comfortable operating autonomous vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable assisting individuals in wheelchairs, including pushing a wheelchair up a ramp and into a vehicle.
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to remain vigilant and attentive during extended monitoring periods.
- High attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow established procedures and safety protocols.
- Methodical, organized, and comfortable documenting daily activities and observations accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and concisely, particularly in dynamic or high-pressure situations.
- Comfortable using technical systems, mobile devices, and digital reporting tools.
- Coachable, adaptable, and able to learn quickly through structured training and ongoing evaluation.
Qualifications
- Must be able to successfully complete paid online training and in-vehicle certification before working independently.
- Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and drug screen, including THC.

Schedule
Available Schedule: Weekday and weekend shifts. Must be available to work at least one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday).

This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt and based on-site in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Note: hire is contingent upon a clear background check, MVR, and drug screen (including THC).
