About the Role
The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of collaborating Physician(s), provides evaluation and treatment for patients in hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant settings, including fundamental internal medicine related to hematologic malignancies.
Responsibilities
- Performs physical examinations of patients
- Evaluates and treats illnesses related to hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant
- Manages and monitors patients in clinic, infusion center, and hospital settings
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory, x-ray)
- Monitors patient treatment courses and makes referrals to physicians or specialists as needed
- Collaborates with physician supervisors and staff to ensure consistent patient care and staff support
- Performs procedures including bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies, lumbar punctures, and IT Chemo (training provided)
- Participates in inpatient rounding at AdventHealth Orlando
- Rounds during the day and on weekends when on call
- Obtains DEA licensure post-orientation for prescribing controlled substances as permitted by law
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
- Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license
- ANCC, AANP, NCCPA (or equivalent) certification
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Experience as an APRN or PA-C in Hematology/Oncology (highly preferred)
- Oncology nursing experience (highly preferred)
