Full Time American Sign Language (ASL) Educational Interpreter- Arlington Public Schools (K-12)
About the role
You’ll be placed in an Arlington Public Schools school for the duration of the school year (or as needed) and provide 1:1 ASL interpreting within the school setting for students and staff who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. This is a full-time staff position; qualified independent contractors will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide ASL interpreting across academic, administrative, and social settings within an Arlington Public Schools school
- Voice for ASL users and interpret for colleagues, school personnel, and visiting professionals
- Collaborate with school staff for assignment context, scheduling, and ongoing support
- Maintain professional, ethical conduct in all school-community interactions
Requirements
- Completion of an Interpreter Training Program OR equivalent demonstrated interpreting experience
- Proficient signing and voicing skills
- Working knowledge of K-12 educational vocabulary
- Proficiency in ASL and strong understanding of Deaf culture
- Adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct
Preferred Qualifications
- EIPA score on file, OR actively preparing to sit for EIPA certification
- Graduate of an accredited Interpreter Training Program
- 1+ year of K–12 educational interpreting experience (recent ITP graduates also highly encouraged to apply)
- Familiarity with K–12 school operations and administrative processes
Pay & Benefits
- Starting at $35/hr for recent ITP graduates, up to $50/hr for experienced interpreters

Interview Process
We review every application and reach out to qualified applicants within 2 business days to schedule an interpreting screening. Applicants who advance will then be invited to a brief video interview with our ASL team.
What to Expect After You're Hired
Because this position is in a public school, all hired interpreters are required to complete the following: a criminal background check with fingerprinting, a drug test, and a possible TB screening. ContextGlobal coordinates and covers the cost of these screenings.
