Full Time Administrative Faculty – Director of Clinical Education, Division of Counseling

About the role

Indiana Wesleyan University’s School of Integrated Health Division of Counseling invites applications for a full-time administrative faculty position with experience in counseling, supervision, and program management. The role is a full-time appointment encompassing coordination of practicum and internship courses, internship programs, and supervision of the onsite clinics within the Division of Counseling. Students in the Division pursue degrees including BS and MA in Addictions Counseling, MA in School Counseling, MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MA in Community Care, and MA in Marriage & Family Counseling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates clinical activities (practicum/internship) of the Division and its programs
• Functions as the administrative executive for the Division’s Counseling Clinics; serves as the direct report to current Clinic Coordinators who oversee day-to-day operations
• Manages processes related to requests for services, assignment of clients to student counselors, recordkeeping and documentation of cases, and policies of an ethical and safe clinical site
• Maintains and revises practicum/internship processes
• Ensures compliance with state, CACREP, and AAMFT standards regarding supervision and documentation of clinical hours
• Champions Experiential Learning Cloud for paperwork, hours tracking, and class assignments
• Serves as Practicum/Internship coordinator, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with sites and site supervisors
• Serves as site supervisor, in coordination with Clinic Coordinators, for practicum/internship students seeing clients at university clinics
• Conducts weekly supervision and consultation to practicum students and interns in accordance with CACREP and other accreditation standards
• Conducts orientation, in coordination with Clinic Coordinators, for incoming students regarding practicum/internship (including use of clinic technology) and provides tours for prospective students
• Provides administrative supervision to students on regularly scheduled review of clinical records, including maintenance and storage of physical files
• Teaches a minimum of four Practicum/Internship courses per year
• Provides feedback on professional development of students to specialization coordinators, program director, and division chair
• Participates in Departmental and institutional committees as assigned
• Serves as liaison between the Clinic, client, university, and community
• Establishes and maintains resource and referral network with regional practitioners, agencies, church, and para-church organizations
• Conducts program evaluation for quality assurance and to ensure fulfillment of division objectives
• Revises clinical forms and Clinical Experience Manual as needed
• Monitors functioning of clinic technology
• Conducts and assists faculty in clinically-based research
• Models excellence and interacts with staff, students, clients, and faculty in a professional and ethical manner
• Demonstrates skill in the integration of theology and counseling theory in the conceptualization and treatment of clients

Qualifications

• According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy, all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement
• Education: an earned master’s degree in counseling or closely related field; preference to those with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision
• Experience: applicants must have a full clinical license as counselor or therapist; at least two years of professional, supervisory, or faculty-level counseling experience; demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

Required Skills

• Ability to learn, use, and teach in onsite and online modalities
• Computer software skills including online learning platforms, online library services, and Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of APA format
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Awareness of higher education academic and administrative processes with an eye toward professional licensing and credentialing processes
• Solid track record as a collaborative leader with effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a strong interest in realizing IWU’s institutional learning outcomes
