Full Stack Software Engineer (Experienced or Lead)
About the role
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Space Mission Systems (SMS) team in Chantilly, VA or Seal Beach, CA. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced and Lead Software Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
- Maintains and enhances software products and functionalities for systems integrations
- Affixes to guidance on software standards and design principles
- Participates in the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings
- Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products
- Develops, establishes, monitors, and improves software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organization goals and industry benchmarks
- Executes and documents software research and development projects
- Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher
- 3+ years’ experience in foundational Computer Science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns
- 3+ years’ experience in Java/C++/Python object-oriented programming on full stack software projects/programs
- 3+ years with DevSecOps and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and execution
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience
- 13+ years of related, relevant experience
- Experience with one or more of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JS frameworks (REACT, Open Layers, etc.), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, noSQL, REST/Open API
- Experience with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and Release Planning
- Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, DevSecOps, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) management
- Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI to automate build, test, and deployment processes
- Experience with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) data systems
- Experience in writing and executing test cases, including unit, integration, and system testing, to ensure software functionality and performance meet specifications
- Experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems
Security Clearance
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher

Pay
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range
Summary Pay Range for Experienced level (Level 3): USD $135,150 – $182,850
Summary Pay Range for Lead level (Level 4): USD $171,700 – $232,300
