Accountabilities
- Collaborating on projects end-to-end, from feature scoping with product and design teams through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvements.
- Developing and maintaining full-stack applications, with a primary focus on Ruby on Rails backend systems, APIs, integrations, and frontend experiences using modern web technologies.
- Designing and improving backend architecture, data models, and system workflows that support critical clinical and billing operations.
- Building robust internal and external integrations while ensuring reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
- Participating in architecture discussions, automated testing, and code reviews to maintain a high-quality codebase.
- Balancing independent development work with collaborative pairing sessions depending on project needs.
- Bringing new ideas and perspectives to improve engineering processes, technical decisions, and team effectiveness.
- Taking ownership of projects and driving them through completion while considering broader product and business objectives.
Requirements
- Professional software development experience, with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and familiarity with similar frameworks or languages such as Python and Django.
- Experience building production-quality web applications, APIs, integrations, and scalable software systems.
- Strong understanding of backend development, data modeling, system architecture, and full-stack engineering practices.
- Comfort working across the technology stack, with a preference for backend logic and infrastructure while still contributing to frontend experiences.
- A product-oriented mindset with the ability to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Strong ownership skills, including the ability to manage projects independently and deliver results beyond writing code.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with product, marketing, clinical, and other cross-functional teams.
- A thoughtful, empathetic approach to decision-making, execution, and teamwork.
- Interest in improving behavioral healthcare access and creating technology that supports children, teens, and families.
