Full Stack Java Software Engineer

About the role

Join an exciting FinTech/Payments company as it builds a new technology platform and business offering from the ground up. We seek Senior Full Stack Java Developers with 15-20 years of experience designing and delivering high-quality software products. This is a hybrid role requiring work onsite three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in the Dallas, TX metro area (Plano or Frisco preferred). Candidates must be based in this area or willing to relocate on their own.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of a modern technology platform as part of a team.
• Develop highly scalable, secure, cloud-native applications utilizing Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Partner with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Define software engineering standards, architectural patterns, and development best practices.
• Mentor and coach software engineers while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
• Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance across development teams.

Requirements

• Approximately 15-20+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Extensive experience designing and building enterprise Java applications.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools.
• Payment processing or financial systems industry experience.
• Deep expertise with:
  • Java
  • Spring Boot and Spring Framework
  • Hibernate
  • REST APIs
  • React
  • Maven
  • AWS Cloud Services (ECS/Fargate preferred)
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud architecture.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable software platforms.
• U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only; no visa sponsorship or transfers available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Payment processing or financial services technology experience.
• PCI DSS v4 compliance knowledge.
• SOC 2 Type II controls experience.
• Secure software development practices.
• Event-driven architecture.
• RabbitMQ, Kafka, or JMS messaging.
• Kotlin.
• Building software within regulated environments.

The current tech stack includes Java 25, React 19, Spring Boot 4.1, Spring Framework, Hibernate, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Git, Maven, Claude Code, and AWS.
