Full Charge Bookkeeper

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger by recording, reviewing, and correcting financial activity to ensure accurate account balances.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis, researching discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes by verifying transactions, monitoring documentation, and assisting with issue resolution.
• Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping functions while providing direction and support to one member of the accounting staff.
• Apply knowledge of account frameworks and job cost coding to classify transactions correctly and preserve reporting accuracy.
• Investigate posting errors and other transaction-related problems, then take action to restore clean and reliable financial records.
• Work closely with the Controller to help maintain efficient accounting operations and support departmental priorities in a document-heavy setting.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in full charge bookkeeping or a closely related accounting position.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger management, account reconciliations, and core bookkeeping procedures.
• Hands-on experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Understanding of job cost principles and the ability to code transactions accurately within established account structures.
• Comfortable working in a paper-intensive accounting environment with strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to troubleshoot accounting discrepancies, identify root causes, and resolve transaction issues efficiently.
• Congstruction accounting experience is preferred, but candidates with a solid overall accounting background are encouraged to apply.
