About the role
PlanetArt is looking for a Fulfillment Associate to support the company’s Fulfillment department. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of warehouse functions including receiving, storing, handling, shipping and preparing product for customer delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly fashion.
Due to the seasonality of our business, peak seasons are demanding. During peak times, extended hours including mandatory 10- and 12-hour shifts and required weekend hours during all peak periods are needed. Flexibility to change shifts for short periods of time may be required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare shipments for delivery to customers
- Select the most economical method of shipment using knowledge of shipping methods
- Prepare bills of lading (BOL), check items to be shipped against work orders to confirm quantities, destination and routing
- Arrange for pick-up by designated carrier
- Communicate via telephone and email to both inbound and outbound carrier dispatch
- Maintain an adequate supply of shipping/receiving materials
- Ensure shipments are packed to ensure safe delivery
- Inspect receipts for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damages and notify supervisor and/or purchasing personnel
- Support the shipment of goods produced and receive shipping/receiving supplies for use in production/storage
- Forward requisitions for shipping/receiving materials to the Department Supervisor for approval
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner and follow prescribed safety rules and regulations
- Prepare routine reports and file carrier records
- Route receipts or items to departments
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned (e.g., mail sort and distribution)
- Assist shipping/receiving departments with short staffing, high demand, or slow periods
Requirements
- Detail oriented and practice safe operating procedures
- Demonstrated history of multi-tasking and working at a fast pace
- Required to read, write and speak English fluently
- Interpret packing slips
- Ability to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms required by major freight carriers
- Enter data into computer correctly
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards
- Ability to work second shift during peaks, overtime and weekends as needed within and outside of peak periods
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to heavy machinery, dust, fluctuating temperatures and moderate noise levels
- Position involves working around machinery with moving parts
- May require alternating shifts depending on volume
- Requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Requires movement of items from machinery to other locations
- Requires regular handling of materials, packaging, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending
- Frequent sustained walking and/or standing for prolonged periods of time
