About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is a company dedicated to breaking down language and cultural barriers. We employ interpreters to enhance the lives of limited-English speakers, the Deaf, and the Hard-of-Hearing. Our interpreters work remotely, providing services in various industries including healthcare, 911, first responders, education, government agencies, and businesses.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Deliver audio and video interpretation services and type data on a dedicated device.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the interpreting sessions.
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations like 911 calls.
• Follow client instructions and ensure client expectations are met.
• Understand and adapt to various industries' protocols and terminologies.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Fukienese and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics and remain neutral.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages preferred.

Pay

$23 - $25 per hour. Compensation will not be less than any applicable state or local minimum wage.

Schedule

This is a remote position. The Interpreter works from their home-office. Punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours are essential.
