About the role

The Fuel Station Manager/Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Fuel Station, ensuring exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, inventory control, sales performance, safety standards, and associate development. This position leads station operations, maintains fuel and merchandise availability, safeguards company assets, and ensures a clean, safe, and efficient environment for customers and employees. The role may function as either a Manager or Supervisor depending on store volume, staffing structure, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service & Sales
    • Deliver outstanding customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
    • Assist customers with fuel purchases, merchandise inquiries, and service-related concerns.
    • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
    • Drive sales through effective merchandising, promotions, and suggestive selling techniques.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming fuel station environment.
    • Ensure fuel pumps, displays, signage, and merchandise areas are customer-ready at all times.
  • Fuel Station Operations
    • Oversee daily fuel station operations, including fuel sales, convenience merchandise, and related services.
    • Monitor fuel levels and coordinate fuel deliveries to maintain continuous operations.
    • Ensure fuel dispensers, payment systems, and equipment are functioning properly.
    • Maintain compliance with operational procedures for fuel handling, environmental requirements, and equipment maintenance.
    • Ensure accurate pricing for fuel and merchandise.
    • Monitor station conditions and address operational issues promptly.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Recruit, train, coach, and develop fuel station associates.
    • Provide leadership, direction, and support during assigned shifts.
    • Create and manage schedules that support operational needs while controlling labor costs.
    • Conduct performance coaching and provide ongoing feedback.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and customer service excellence.
    • Support associate engagement and career development initiatives.
  • Inventory & Financial Management
    • Manage inventory levels for convenience merchandise, supplies, and operational materials.
    • Monitor fuel inventory and assist with fuel reconciliation processes.
    • Ensure proper receiving, stocking, and inventory tracking procedures.
    • Support achievement of sales, labor, shrink, and profitability goals.
    • Review operational reports and identify opportunities to improve performance.
    • Assist with inventory counts, audits, and financial controls.
  • Cash Handling & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all cash handling, lottery, tobacco, age-restricted sales, and financial control procedures.
    • Monitor register accuracy, cash accountability, and deposit procedures.
    • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping requirements are maintained.
    • Protect confidential customer and company information.
    • Support audits and compliance reviews as required.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance
    • Maintain compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements related to fuel operations.
    • Ensure proper fuel handling, spill prevention, and emergency response procedures are followed.
    • Conduct routine safety inspections and address hazards immediately.
    • Ensure associates are trained in emergency procedures and safety protocols.
    • Maintain clean and safe fueling areas, parking lots, and customer access points.
    • Support accident prevention and incident reporting procedures.
  • Asset Protection
    • Promote protection of company assets through effective operational controls.
    • Monitor shrink, theft prevention, and cash security measures.
    • Ensure security procedures are followed for fuel, merchandise, and cash handling activities.
    • Report suspicious activity, safety concerns, and operational risks promptly.
    • Support company loss prevention initiatives.
  • Leadership Coverage
    • Assume responsibility for all fuel station operations during assigned shifts.
    • Serve as manager-in-charge when designated.
    • Communicate operational priorities, goals, and expectations to associates.
    • Partner with store leadership to support company initiatives and performance objectives.
    • Maintain operational readiness during peak business periods and emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail, fuel station, convenience store, or customer service experience required.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate fuel station equipment and material handling devices.
