About the role
Fuel Distribution System Mechanic supporting Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fuel storage and distribution systems, keeping supervisors informed of unique situations, and identifying safety and environmental work requirements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunctions of mechanical units, meters, and gauges.
- Lubricate and repack valves, pumps, and replace gaskets and seals; correct pumping equipment misalignment.
- Clean strainers, filters, and check meters for correct delivery and calibration.
- Overhaul system components such as pressure regulating valves and excess valves.
- Disassemble, adjust, align, and calibrate gauges and meters or replace them.
- Remove and install equipment such as filters and piping to modify, repair, or replace system components.
- Clean fuel tanks and distribution lines; remove corrosion and repaint surfaces.
- Perform UFC 460 Directive inspections on CNG units (natural gas dispensers).
- Maintain and repair pressure vacuum vents.
- Maintain and repair electrical/electronic fuels systems and components (jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel).
- Utilize and interpret technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications.
- Complete daily labor sheets documenting inspections, maintenance, and repair information, including work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
- Interface with customers and gather feedback as applicable.
- Operate motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
- Comply with federal, state, USAF, and OSHA environmental laws and regulations.
- Adhere to health and safety rules and procedures; perform work safely.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting fuel service stations and Bulk Distribution Fuel Systems.
- Valid state driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance.
- Must obtain and maintain all necessary licenses, IDs, and certifications.
- Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology, DoD regulations, and company standards.
- Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years' experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting fuel service stations and Bulk Distribution Fuel Systems.
- Experience with Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST), Underground Storage Tanks (UST), manual valves, automatic valves, pumps, and Type 3 Constant Pressure Systems.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Military experience.
- Previous experience working on a military installation, particularly Tinker facilities.
This position may require obtaining and retaining a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract. Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background checks are required.
Pay
$37.21 per hour
