About the Role

A Sr. Communications Specialist at Bishop Gadsden is a storyteller, strategist, and relationship-builder who thrives at the intersection of communications, marketing, branding, and community engagement. This role is an opportunity to influence how residents, employees, families, and the broader Charleston community experience one of the region's most respected senior living organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support strategic communication initiatives that enhance brand visibility, strengthen engagement, and advance organizational goals.
  • Create, edit, and distribute engaging content for employees, residents, families, and the community.
  • Manage the organization-wide content calendar and support social media strategy.
  • Maintain website content, digital communications, and brand consistency across all platforms.
  • Serve as Managing Editor for the monthly GAB publication.
  • Coordinate advertising, marketing materials, and communication campaigns.
  • Manage and support the BGLife resident engagement app, including updates, training, and vendor coordination.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and support public relations efforts.
  • Capture photography and assist with community events, signage, and special projects.
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Communications team and organizational initiatives.
  • Ensure all communications align with Bishop Gadsden's brand standards and mission.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, or related field is preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience as a Communications Assistant, Communication Specialist, or similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and content management systems is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of media relations, communications, and digital media strategies.
  • Solid editing and researching skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities (oral and written).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective organizational skills.
