About the role
The Safety Support Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and stability of the interim housing site at the Colonial site in Long Beach. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining a secure environment for staff, participants, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall safety of the interim housing site through observation, de-escalation strategies, and ongoing participant engagement.
- Coordinate with the onsite case management team to provide support to the interim housing site.
- Collaborate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the safety of the interim housing site.
- Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds, communicating and addressing discrepancies or concerns.
- Assist with drafting written documentation and correspondence regarding the safety and security of the site.
- Respond to security and crisis situations as they arise, utilizing non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies.
- Complete reports as necessary or requested.
- Attend meetings and provide input and feedback related to safety and support operations.
- Participate in required training sessions and engage in staff meetings and events.
Requirements
- One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations and/or security and/or de-escalation/nonviolent crisis intervention.
- Minimum qualifications: All levels of experience and education welcome. Must have employment eligibility verification, CPR/First Aid training, and pass a tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug test.
