FT Produce Lead

About the Role

Hannaford Supermarkets, rooted in its history as a fresh produce vendor since 1883, continues to celebrate local foods, traditions, and jobs through its Local program. This role is integral to maintaining our commitment to quality and customer service in the Produce/Perishable department.

Responsibilities

• Lead department operations in the absence of the department manager and assistant manager, adhering to established standards.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
• Utilize retail store systems for management planning, scheduling, CAO, and RF Unit.
• Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Meet or exceed Management Planning guidelines.
• Develop and maintain produce product knowledge.
• Assist in training other associates as assigned.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and comply with the company personal appearance policy.
• Ensure solid communication within the department and organization.
• Support company safety standards and report equipment repairs or maintenance needs.
• Keep work areas free from debris and safety hazards.
• Observe and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Retail Produce experience preferred.
• Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Must meet minimum age requirements per company policy.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers and communication systems.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. at least 80% of the time and 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Reach to shoulder level or above while lifting 30 lbs.
• Stand and walk 100% of the time.
• Frequent bending, reaching, grasping, and lifting produce items at or above waist level.
• Handle cleaning materials, packaging materials, and food products.
• Tolerate working in cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Preferred Requirements

• Supervise and delegate tasks to produce associates as assigned.
• Greet and assist customers with product selection.
• Perform stocking, culling, and rotation procedures.
• Prepare produce according to established standards.
• Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
• Receive and store produce deliveries.
• Adhere to high product quality standards.

Pay

Salary range: $17.60 - $26.20 per hour.
