Position Summary
The nurse is responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. Their duties include communicating with doctors and other Registered Nurses about patient needs, administering IVs and medications to aid their patients’ health and using medical equipment to monitor patients’ vital signs.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
- Participate in oncoming/ outgoing shift report.
- Complete documentation per Ciel Senior Living standards to ensure that all care services are provided, and that residents’ needs are met.
- Supervise Resident Assistants on assignments in the nursing department while on shift.
- Participate in narcotic count at shift change, ensuring accurate documentation of inventory count.
- Complete administration of medication as directed ensuring compliance with “Rights of Medication Administration.”
- Participate in weekly medication cart audits, as assigned.
- Absorb and maintain cleanliness of medication room.
- Ensure that all new medication orders are faxed to the pharmacy to obtain medication in a timely manner and accurately.
- Inform families when mail order medicines need to be reordered.
- Communicate with physician offices as needed to obtain phone orders or change orders for a resident.
- Follow Physician Order Protocol to ensure proper processing of orders.
- Document resident change of condition / status per policy.
- Absorb and complete chart audits and thinning per policy.
- Absorb and assist with the completion of required assessments and service plans.
- Absorb and assist with the development and maintenance of resident service plan / care plan.
- Absorb and assist with documenting incident reports correctly and timely.
- Update DNR'S as needed.
- Absorb and assist Health and Wellness Director in creating and maintaining resident charts/care files.
- Participate in annual flu clinics, TB testing of associates/residents.
- Participate in community Wellness Programs as assigned.
- Obtain and record residents’ vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration), weight, as directed.
- Observe resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepare report or notify designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Counsel residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.
- Schedule doctor’s appointments based on the needs of the resident.
- Assure call lights are answered in a timely manner to attend to the residents needs as soon as possible after the call light is signaled.
- Attend training and conferences as required to stay current with changes in the nursing profession, as well as to maintain appropriate CEU’s for license, with prior approval of supervisor.
- Absorb and assure all training required by the state regulations is completed and documented each year.
- Absorb and assure all caregiver duties are performed as assigned and documented appropriately.
- Address associate, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good communication.
- Be fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participate as assigned in fire and disaster drills.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
- Demonstrate an understanding of compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.
- Complete all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.
- Absorb and attend training courses at community and maintain up to date monthly, quarterly, annual training through designated Learning Management System (LMS).
- Other duties as assigned, and which relate to the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of our residents.
Requirements
- Education is required to obtain a state nursing license (LPN/LVN or RN).
- Must have current LPN licensure in good standing.
- One-to-two-year experience preferred in assisted living.
- CPR certification
- Must have strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write and interpret administrative information.

- Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walk and stand.
- Environment Condition – must be able to perform work both inside and outside.
- Sit – sit infrequently.
- Lift - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.
- Carry - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.
- Push - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds.
- Climb – must be able to climb stairs on a frequent basis, with the opportunity to utilize the elevator as an alternate resource if available.
- Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips, and spine on a frequent basis; may require frequently manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Squat – must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee, may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.
- Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Reach– must be able to reach on a frequent basis. May occasionally reach overhead, requiring manipulation of weight of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulating weight of 25 pounds or more.
