FT- Instructional Assistant

Essential Functions

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.
• Affords support and reinforcement to students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. read stories, listen to students read, providing writing assistance, reinforce English lessons, provide spelling practice, facilitate activities, computer learning programs, etc.).
• Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans.
• Maintains manual and electronic files and records (e.g. student data, assessments, etc.).
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, cafeteria, arrival/departure, etc.).
• Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel to assist them in the implementation of curriculum and teaching methodologies.

Experience

• Job related experience is required.

Education

• Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
• Equivlency: 60 hours of verifiable college credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning or Para Pro Exam.

Certificates and Licenses

• IVP (Identity Verified Print) Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Salary

$16.16/HR 211 Days
