Ft Faculty - Manufacturing (Tenture Track)

About the Role

This is an exciting time in the history of City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois and among the largest in the nation. CCC has launched Reinvention, a nationally recognized initiative to ensure even greater student success and outcomes across the system. At Richard J. Daley College, you will contribute to this transformation while teaching manufacturing technology skills as part of the Advanced Manufacturing College to Careers program.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching, integrating new technologies into the learning process, and inspiring students to succeed.
• Model and teach "soft skills" to increase student employability and career success.
• Teach manufacturing technology skills, including welding, factory automation, and/or CNC machining, compliant with industry standards.
• Model best practices in shop safety, quality assurance, and process improvement.
• Create lesson plans and projects to engage students in applied math and science relevant to manufacturing.
• Simulate real work experiences through project-based learning in classroom and shop exercises.
• Provide instruction addressing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles to prepare students for industry certifications.
• Lead syllabus development to deliver student learning outcomes (SLOs) and manage expectations for students and instructors.
• Lead PeopleSoft skill development to provide self-service access to student administration, including grade entry.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least two industry credentials from the American Welding Society, Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), National Institute Metalworking Skills (NIMS), American Society of Quality (ASQ), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), or IBEW journeyman.
• Alternatively, 8 years of experience in manufacturing, including production or industrial maintenance, with at least 2 industry credentials from the above associations.

Unofficial transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy, and professional letters of recommendation are required at the time of interview. Official transcripts must be provided if hired.

Qualifications

Commitment to student success, ability to integrate technology into teaching, and experience in manufacturing or a related technical field.

Pay

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000 annually. Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.

Schedule

This position may require full in-person teaching; hybrid schedules are not guaranteed. Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
