FT Facilities Technican

This is a building maintenance and repair position (not a maintenance cleaning role).

Schedule

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Responsibilities

• Performs all work orders as assigned by Director or Coordinator
• Ensure that premises and equipment are well maintained, clean and safe; inspecting work of technicians and providing feedback to director
• May be available after hours to respond to emergency situations pertaining to heating failure, water leaks, and inclement weather concerns and share on-call responsibilities with the director
• Administer approved procedures as it pertains to assignment of tasks, use of equipment, safety, preventative maintenance and repairs
• Ensure the efficient and prompt handling of all department work
• Perform from start to completion any and all facilities related work orders
• Daily tasks may include but are not limited to: general carpentry, remodeling, electrical, plumbing, painting, safety, locks, repair of any and all types of appliances & equipment typical to all residential & commercial facilities
• Ensure Mission grounds are well-groomed and clean

Requirements

• Building maintenance/repair experience
• Valid NYS Driver's license
• Clean driving record (no DUI/DWI, history of a suspended license, and/or vehicular manslaughter)
• Ability to operate ODM fleet vehicles (box truck, refrigerated van, 8-passenger and 12-passenger vans, and pickup truck)
• Committed Christian with a commitment to and a passion for "restoring hope and changing lives"
• Serve as a positive role model for students and guests
• Safety conscious with a good knowledge of facility operation and general maintenance
• Self-starter, able to work well alone or with others, including volunteers and students
• Skilled with power tools
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
• Meet and deal tactfully and courteously with donors, employees, volunteers, students, guests and vendors
• Appropriately handles frequent changes, delays and unexpected events
• Remain calm in a crisis or emergency situation
• Able to read and write; and communicate via email
• Willing to authorize a driver's record and background check
• Physically fit, knowledge of safe handling and lifting techniques
