Responsibilities

  • Aid the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with daily store operations.
  • Hire, train, and develop store associates.
  • Maintain performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal, and disciplinary efforts.
  • Create an enthusiastic customer-focused environment with a primary focus on fast and efficient customer service.
  • Lead and motivate store associates to reflect Food Lion’s Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Control store funds and assets, observe and correct unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies, and standards.
  • Support the achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results by maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimizing shrinkage.
  • Ensure store conditions, customer service, and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety, and adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage staffing schedules to meet business needs.
  • Communicate Food Lion’s expectations to associates and provide necessary tools and training for success.
  • Complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of Department Manager or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to learn and manage multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
  • Meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
  • Be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or complete company-provided training within 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use computers and communication systems to perform job functions.
  • Stand 100% of the time, frequently walk short distances, and push/pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack or float.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm motions, bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and approximately 100 lbs. on occasion.
  • Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, and household cleaners.
  • Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
  • Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
