About the role
Saia is currently looking for dockworkers to join our team. Our dockworkers will efficiently sort, handle and load freight into and unload it from over the road equipment, containers and city trailers using a sit down forklift. In some instances, our dockworkers will also perform the job duties of a hostler, moving trailers throughout our yard.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with state and federal DOT guidelines.
- Read and interpret shipping labels.
- Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as necessary.
- Secure freight inside the trailer using the provided and appropriate dunnage.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language in order to perform the various tasks of the job, including but not limited to: converse with co-workers and members of the general public; understand oral and written instructions as well as governmental regulations; respond to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives; and accurately complete various shipping documents, reports and records required of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Freight handling experience.
- Forklift certification or hazmat training.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments.

Pay
Pay Rate: $26.55 - $30.30 per hour, based on experience
Schedule
Shift schedule: 3rd shift 11 p.m. - 7:00a Monday - Friday
Hours may vary based on freight.
