About the Role
The Cook assembles patient meal trays according to diet orders, prepares hot food items for patients, employees, and visitors, and is responsible for setting up, breaking down, and sanitation of food and non-food items for patient meal services. The Cook is actively involved in department and transdisciplinary team activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered healthcare for all patient populations.
This role involves interaction with adult (18-65 years) and geriatric (65 and older) patients in a non-clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Cooks a variety of food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served while ensuring consistent quality.
- Apportions and serves food to patients, families, employees, and visitors.
- Reviews menus, production sheets, and catering requests to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared.
- Sets up and stocks cafeteria with appropriate food and non-food items for meal service, ensuring proper par levels are maintained.
- Plans and organizes work for assigned shifts to properly utilize time, resources, and supplies for timely completion of tasks.
- Cleans and inspects galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
- Greets patients, employees, and visitors courteously, responding with positive interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Ensures safety at all times by reporting risk factors and maintaining appropriate safety measures.

- Regular attendance and timeliness are required.
