About the Role
Perform a wide variety of duties to maintain and control accurate levels of inventory in grocery and perishable warehouses. This includes evaluating and entering data into warehouse systems, providing technical support to receiving and shipping departments, and exchanging information with customers in retail, merchandising, trucking, and distribution.
Responsibilities
- Assign items to select slots based on the strategy of achieving retail and distribution operational productivity while ensuring the safety of associates and product.
- Maintain integrity of slotting strategy through analysis and continual alignment of slot profiles with item velocity.
- Execute and maintain processes for the inventory department independently or without supervision.
- Perform complex research and analysis to identify, diagnose, and resolve problems.
- Act as a communicator and contact for business partners and customers outside of the distribution center, addressing concerns in a positive manner.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all departments within the distribution center.
- Monitor warehouse damage and initiate resolution.
- Notify appropriate department leads for product discrepancies.
- Utilize reports to assist distribution in investigating and expediting issues related to inventory discrepancies and audit results.
- Maintain accurate, organized files for all department responsibilities for efficient access to necessary information.
- Perform daily warehouse responsibilities in areas related to shipping, receiving, and/or inventory management within established time frames.
- Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or distribution center to maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with company standards in the areas of accuracy, safety, and productivity.
- Understand food safety handling techniques, practices, and expectations for the work environment.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
- Expert knowledge of WMS and supporting systems.
- Seasoned knowledge of inventory practices, procedures, and research techniques.
- Excellent customer service, communication, verbal, and written skills.
- Demonstrate effective and successful leadership skills by producing positive results in maintaining accurate inventory.
- Meet production standards set by the company.
- Read and understand written and numeric product identifiers.
- Must be able to work the needed schedule to perform assigned duties.
- Proficient use of a computer for data entry and research purposes.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, and team player with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 60 lbs.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (e.g., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks).
Qualifications
- High school education.
- Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable.
- Familiarity/experience in a distribution environment preferred.
- 3+ years' experience in Inventory Management Operations or related job functions.
