FSR/Teller

About the Role

Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions for members in person, via phone, and through the mail. Performs member services functions such as opening and closing accounts, renewing certificates, and assisting members with bookkeeping and checking account problems. Actively cross-sells Credit Union services and performs assigned clerical and receptionist duties.

Responsibilities

• Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers’ checks, money orders, and cash advances.
• Balance each day's transactions and verify cash totals; investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions.
• Perform member services functions including opening and closing accounts, renewing certificates, and assisting with bookkeeping or checking account problems.
• Answer member questions regarding Credit Union services and perform account maintenance duties.
• Cross-sell Credit Union services and products to meet members' financial needs.
• Process share deposits, loan payments, cash advances, travelers’ checks, cashiers’ checks, money orders, bank-to-bank wires, and Western Union wires.
• Disburse cash or check share withdrawals and process transfers; verify transactions and monitor deposit amounts.
• Detect and resolve discrepancies promptly; provide override function for other tellers.
• Open and close accounts, order checks, complete payroll deduction forms, and take stop payment orders.
• Resolve member bookkeeping and checking account problems; record and relay messages.
• Perform file maintenance and account changes; keep members informed of Credit Union services and policies.
• Maintain privacy of member account information and project the Credit Union's professional reputation.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of Teller and Member Service certification training.
• Minimum of two years of Teller experience in a full-service financial institution.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Teller and Member Service Representative Operations and procedures.
• Solid understanding of Credit Union operations.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to assist others.
• Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
• Solid math skills and ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment (e.g., adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, telephone).
• Good typing skills.
