Manage the daily operations of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) department, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all Tyson FSQA policies and procedures.
  • Lead, select, and train FSQA Supervisors and Technicians.
  • Oversee production practices from raw material/live animal receiving through finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.
  • Monitor preoperational and operational sanitation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP/HARPC & SSOP programs.
  • Ensure finished products conform to customer specifications and are properly labeled.
  • Report product issues and audit results to plant, corporate FSQA management, corporate sales, R&D, and operations.
  • Engage with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.
  • Conduct investigations and respond to quality-related customer complaints or complaint trends.
  • Monitor analytical results.
  • Participate in the commercialization of new products.
  • Manage departmental budgets, turnover, safety, and special projects.
  • Serve as the plant liaison to USDA/FDA.
  • Oversee crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with knowledge in one or more of the following: HACCP, USDA, GMP, and SSOPs.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Standard computer skills required; proficiency in generating customer letters and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to master EIM, SAP, and warehouse inventory systems to provide support and training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across the organization.
  • Must reside in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position.
