FSH-Director of Materials Management FT

About the Role

Responsible for the coordination of the materials management system throughout the hospital with regards to procurement, processing, and distribution of materials and services. This system should meet or exceed the requirements of the hospital and be accomplished at the most favorable cost.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates productive hours, space, equipment, and expense as they relate to materials and services contracts.
  • Develops policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution, duplicating, and mail transport throughout the hospital.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Interfaces directly with all departments in the hospital regarding requested materials to ascertain specifications and need.
  • Involved in all aspects and functions of the department.
  • Maintains adequate operating supply levels in the facility and coordinates timely supply distribution.
  • Maintains biomedical equipment in good working order.
  • Maintains good interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships by providing the highest level of service, management assistance, and open communication.
  • Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Reviews for approval all duplicating requirements of the various departments of the hospital with the highest level of service, management assistance, and open communication.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and approves all requests for non-stock purchases prior to procurement.
  • Oversees inventory control, performs periodic inventories, and cycle counts.
  • Handles contract negotiations for supply chain, pricing agreements, warranties, and any services that fall under materials preview.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order; repairs are tracked and expected return dates are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Develops both capital and operations budgets for the department.
  • Completes variance reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and state regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or related software.

Qualifications

High School Degree or equivalent. Five years of experience in materials management preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $50.00 - $64.00 per hour (exempt role).
