About the Role
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department. Monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Frozen Foods operations. Responsibilities
- Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Inform customers of frozen food specials.
- Display a positive attitude.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products.
- Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
- Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions, especially those affecting frozen foods.
- Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
- Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
- Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.
- Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
- Work at any location in the district as needed.
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions to notify store management.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- Frozen food experience.
- Retail experience.
- Previous inventory management experience.
- Extensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.
- Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage people and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.
- Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Strong business and financial knowledge.
- Ability to identify needs, problems, and opportunities, and to make effective short and long-term plans to maximize sales and gross margins.
- Knowledge of every position in the store.
- Knowledge of basic math and accounting and computer software.
- Knowledge of and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Extensive working knowledge of profit and loss statements.
- Familiarity with emergency plans in the event of a natural disaster, serious accident, or uncommon event(s).
Physical and General Requirements
- While primary duty is the performance of office and non-manual work, must occasionally perform manual work such as setting up and maintaining displays, operating a cash register, and assisting in other departments as business needs demand.
- Must stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must occasionally reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Must occasionally push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
- Must be able to cover for various positions throughout the store as required.
- Mental alertness is required to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities and to do repetitious work accurately.
- May utilize cleaning supplies and safety cutters.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Scheduled hours will vary.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with Company grooming standards and dress code.
Work Environment
- May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately -20° Fahrenheit, 28° Fahrenheit, 35° Fahrenheit while handling products in freezers, coolers, and display cases, and temperatures of up to 400° Fahrenheit while handling products in ovens, hot cases, and fryers.
- Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor environment with varying temperatures.
