Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
  • Aid the department manager in achieving sales and profit targets.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Embrace Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate effectively and answer questions about products.
  • Respond to customer inquiries about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Recommend products to customers based on their needs.
  • Inform customers of frozen food specials.
  • Check product quality and take appropriate action.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Stay current with store advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and log temperatures.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activities, including: robbery, theft, or fraud.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Desired retail experience.
  • Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
