Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
- Aid the department manager in achieving sales and profit targets.
- Maintain quality assurance standards.
- Embrace Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate effectively and answer questions about products.
- Respond to customer inquiries about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Recommend products to customers based on their needs.
- Inform customers of frozen food specials.
- Check product quality and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with store advertisements and promotions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and log temperatures.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activities, including: robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Qualifications
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Desired retail experience.
- Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
