Frontend Engineer - Marketing & Digital Experience (Contract)
About the role
Join a small, ambitious team where your work shapes how customers first discover and fall in love with our product. You'll be a frontend-first engineer who owns and evolves our marketing site — the CMS powering our pages, the component library keeping our UI consistent, the performance and the polish that makes every visit feel intentional.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve our marketing site — the CMS, the component library, the frontend architecture, and the analytics integrations that tell us how it's all performing.
- Collaborate with Design and Marketing to build and maintain customer-facing web experiences — landing pages, campaign builds, and commerce integrations — that are polished, performant, and on-brand.
- Partner with Design, Marketing, and Publishing to keep our content publishing pipeline smooth — so the team can move fast without depending on engineering for every update.
- Build and maintain lightweight integrations and tooling — connecting third-party services, CX tools, and external APIs — that make the broader team more productive.
- Obsess over performance and user experience — from Core Web Vitals to CMS workflows — so that every interaction feels fast, polished, and intentional.
- Develop and maintain our Web Design System and component libraries, keeping the foundation consistent and scalable as the brand and team grow.
Requirements
You've built and maintained a performant, production marketing site that real teams depend on — and you know what it takes to keep it fast, stable, and easy to update.
You've set up or significantly evolved a CMS for a non-technical team — you've thought about content modelling, editor experience, and how to make publishing fast without breaking things.
You care about code quality and reliability — you write tests, sweat the edge cases, and don't consider something shipped until you're confident it holds up in the real world.
You've diagnosed and fixed real performance bottlenecks on a public-facing site — you know what kills LCP, how to audit a slow page, and how to make the fix stick.
You’re ready to take charge end-to-end — from scoping and building to deployment and smoke testing in production.
You've worked closely with non-engineering teams before — marketers, designers, stakeholders — and you know how to translate between creative vision and technical reality.
You have a DIY mindset and genuine obsession with code quality, user experience, and craft — always asking how things could be better, and doing something about it.
You embrace AI-assisted tools like Claude Code — and you know when to trust them and when to push back.
You are proficient in TypeScript and have experience in a modern full-stack JS frameworks (we use SvelteKit, but Next.js or similar is great!) — bonus points if you've already shipped something in Svelte.
Qualifications
- Bonus if you have a good eye for design and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback in design tools like Figma — you don't just implement designs, you help make them better.
- If you have worked with Sanity CMS — it's what we use day-to-day, and hitting the ground running here would be a genuine advantage.
- If you have experience with international localization tools and architecture — big plus given where we're headed.
- If you have implemented privacy compliance (e.g. GDPR) and managed cookie consent flows.
- If you have maintained software libraries or written technical documentation others actually want to read.
Skills
- Proficient in TypeScript
- Experience with modern full-stack JS frameworks (SvelteKit, Next.js)
