About the role
We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our growing Analytics Engineering team. As a member of this team, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring that our systems can handle the large volumes of data generated by our tests and research projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop
- Develop and maintain data models to support analytics and reporting needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, statisticians, and product managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to improve performance and reduce costs
- Ensure data quality and integrity through automated testing and validation
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in big data and data engineering
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala
- Experience with data warehousing technologies such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- Experience with data modeling and ETL processes
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed systems
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
- Experience with machine learning and statistical analysis
Skills
- Proficiency in data engineering tools and frameworks
- Experience with data governance and compliance standards
