About the role

We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our growing Analytics Engineering team. As a member of this team, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring that our systems can handle the large volumes of data generated by our tests and research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines using technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop
  • Develop and maintain data models to support analytics and reporting needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, statisticians, and product managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through automated testing and validation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in big data and data engineering

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications

  • Experience with data modeling and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed systems
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Experience with machine learning and statistical analysis

Skills

  • Proficiency in data engineering tools and frameworks
  • Experience with data governance and compliance standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
