About the role

The Patient Services Representative at Effingham Obstetrics & Gynecology plays a crucial role in creating a positive patient experience. They greet patients and visitors warmly, schedule and confirm appointments, manage provider schedules, and ensure all check-in and check-out processes are completed correctly and timely.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere
  • Respond to patient inquiries with empathy and accuracy
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, manage provider schedules, and coordinate follow-up visits
  • Verify insurance, collect copays and balance, and accurately enter patient information into the EMR
  • Maintain front desk supplies, patient paperwork, and waiting room cleanliness
  • Monitor and maintain front desk supplies, patient paperwork, and waiting room cleanliness
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, billing, and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow
  • Ensure all check-in and check-out processes are completed correctly and timely
  • Help resolve patient concerns or escalate issues to the appropriate person when needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years of front office experience; in a medical setting preferred
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes a plus
  • Friendly, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and professionalism
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and workflow improvement

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
