Front Office Assistant - Pediatric Otolaryngology, Downtown Orlando

About the role
The Front Office Assistant provides support for daily ambulatory/physician office operations, including patient registration, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, and patient referrals. This role operates under the supervision of the Manager Practice Operations, Medical Office Manager, Academic Program Manager, Academic Nurse Manager, and/or Practice Site Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Schedules patient appointments according to practice-specific protocols and patient preferences, including obtaining required pre-certification and authorization for office visits when necessary.
- Obtains accurate and complete patient demographic and insurance information.
- Processes all requests for medical records in compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
- Adheres to Orlando Health and OHPE (OHPG, OPN) policies, procedures, and value statements.
- Demonstrates competency in the use of office equipment and technology, and answers telephone calls professionally.
- Actively engages in Commitment to Excellence standards to improve overall patient satisfaction.
- Interacts with patients and families in a professional manner.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and federal, state, and local standards (e.g., ADA, FMLA).
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Indicator activities as assigned.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Practices efficient use of supplies.
- Assists billing services as requested.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Six months of experience in a clerical office, general business, or customer service setting.
