About the Role

This position involves supervising cashiers and ensuring efficient customer service operations within the Nutritive Service Department. The role requires overseeing daily workflows, training employees, managing cash handling, and maintaining operational standards in the cafeteria and dining facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish work priorities, schedules, and assign tasks to ensure timely customer service while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow.
  • Train new employees on policies, cash-handling, register routines, customer service, and sales standards.
  • Supervise cashiers in accounting, fiscal responsibilities, and processing sales efficiently.
  • Interview, select, and hire new employees.
  • Issue written and oral instructions for payment processing, sales, and cash flow operations.
  • Ensure cashiers contribute to team efforts in customer service within the Nutritive Service Department.
  • Maintain operational status of the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Evaluate employee work performance.
  • Operate POS register and meal tracker system, including entering food items, processing payments (credit cards, value port cards, ID badges, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and providing transaction totals.
  • Provide basic information to customers about dining facility procedures and policies.
  • Open and close cash registers, print receipts, and generate daily summary reports.
  • Complete accountability documentation, turn in cash, and report to collection clerks.
  • Verify and accept meal cards and free meal tickets for eligible customers.
  • Compare menu items and prices with the cash register and update as needed.
  • Prepare cash drawers for incoming employees and ensure accurate cash counts throughout the day.
  • Record refunds, maintain accurate monetary counts, and ensure all cash is accounted for.
  • Process month-end balancing entries and maintain general ledger analysis of accounts.
  • Track food and beverage sales and prepare monthly and quarterly standard reports.
  • Assist with cashless transactions and daily reports.
  • Summarize funds received and prepare bank deposit slips.
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints and requests.
  • Replenish condiments, packaged food items, utensils, cups, napkins, and beverages in the cafeteria.
  • Check inventory, prepare food orders, and stock storeroom according to established par levels.
  • Apply proper food storage principles (FIFO), including labeling and dating all products.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the cafeteria and dining room.
  • Assist with opening and closing the cafeteria and dining room.
  • Work varying shifts and location assignments as needed.
  • Attend meetings in the evenings or on weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of direct work experience, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Associate’s Degree in Food Service Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid, unrestricted, insurable driver’s license.
  • Navajo Nation food handlers permit.

Pay

Salary Range: $71,309.00 - $89,849.00 per year.
