Front Load Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a CDL B Front Load Swing Truck Driver to operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Drivers transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities and may make one or more trips throughout the shift. The position operates both manual and automatic trucks and requires mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times every route.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for pick-up service of waste or recyclable material
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities
• Make one or more trips throughout the shift
• Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and move/maneuver up to 100 pounds
• Mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers
• Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections
• Ensure truck compliance with company safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws

Requirements

• 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement
• Great safety record and clean MVR
• 1 year verifiable CDL driving experience within the last 7 years
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records
• Ability to read and understand a map
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position
• Willing and able to work required hours as allowed under DOT regulation, which may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work

Qualifications

• Front Load Garbage Truck experience required
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred

Schedule

• Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours
• Year-round steady work

Minimum USD $27.43/Hr.
