Front End Web Developer

About the role

We are looking for freelance HTML/CSS front-end developers who can create very high-quality code. There may be opportunities to turn this into a full-time position or regular guaranteed contract work.

For the full-time role, the position will be located in Canterbury, East Kent, for the first one to three months, with the opportunity to work from elsewhere afterward. This role is partially home-based. After the initial training period, there are regular training and team meetings in Canterbury, with frequency depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Hand-code fully accessible XHTML with valid CSS2 and CSS3
• Implement JavaScript/jQuery to website designs
• Edit existing PHP/MySQL code (for the full-time role)

Requirements

• Excellent HTML/CSS coding ability
• Knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery
• Good knowledge of English
• Understanding of PHP/MySQL development (for the full-time role)

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to use graphic packages such as Adobe Fireworks
• Knowledge of Magento, Joomla, or ecommerce applications
• Good knowledge of other languages (especially Arabic, Russian, German, or Spanish)

Pay

Salary is dependent on experience, with higher compensation for those able to turn complex designs into accessible XHTML/CSS quickly and accurately.

Schedule

Primarily home-based after an initial training period in Canterbury, East Kent. Staff in the South East meet at least weekly in Kent, while those in Cornwall, the South West, or Southern England meet less frequently in Kent or other locations such as Swindon or Reading.
