Front End Software Engineer II
About The Role
The Software Engineer II - Front End role is a remote position focused on developing and maintaining user-facing applications within a collaborative, agile environment. As a key contributor, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including backend engineers, QA specialists, and UX designers to deliver high-quality software solutions that adhere to federal standards and accessibility requirements. Your responsibilities will include implementing designs from Figma, ensuring accessibility compliance, writing automated tests, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our design system components. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful projects that support federal agencies such as NASA, GSA, and HHS, helping to modernize legacy systems and deliver critical digital services to the public.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent additional experience
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular for building modern web applications
- Experience implementing UI designs from Figma or similar design tools
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and their application in frontend development
- Experience working within CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git or GitLab
- Able to collaborate effectively across engineering, QA, and design teams in an agile environment
- Must meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain user-facing applications using Angular, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring alignment with federal design standards
- Implement designs from Figma specifications utilizing federal Design System components
- Create and maintain automated UI tests using Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools to ensure high-quality code
- Ensure frontend implementations meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards in collaboration with UX and accessibility teams
- Debug, optimize, and monitor applications across test and production environments
- Participate in peer code reviews, adhering to the four-eyes principle to maintain code quality
- Collaborate with backend engineers, QA, and UX designers to deliver complete features from story refinement through deployment
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Design System components to ensure consistency across modules
- Support on-call rotations as required and develop cross-functional knowledge through paired programming
- Participate actively in SAFe ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives
