About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer with a strong focus on frontend engineering to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and driving strategic initiatives for frontend development practices, tooling, and skillset enhancements across the organization. You will lead the development of accessible, high-performance, user-centered web applications tailored to serve government customers. As a technical authority and thought leader, you will design modern frontend architectures, develop development pipelines, and oversee deployment infrastructure to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions. Your expertise will be vital in delivering new features that prioritize user experience and accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG).

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience in frontend and software engineering
  • Proven expertise in architecting and implementing scalable, accessible web applications using React and/or Angular
  • Strong experience establishing frontend standards, practices, and tooling to enhance team productivity and code quality
  • Hands-on experience with frontend build tools and deployment pipelines, such as Webpack, Vite, npm, pnpm, or similar
  • Deep understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508) with practical implementation skills
  • Experience with automated accessibility testing tools like axe-core, eslint-pluginjsx-a11y, and CI/CD integration
  • Experience with frontend testing frameworks, including Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or Vitest
  • Familiarity with frontend infrastructure, CDN strategies, asset optimization, and progressive enhancement
  • Experience with design systems, component libraries, and maintaining UI consistency across multiple applications
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS architecture, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Understanding of API integration patterns such as REST and GraphQL
  • Experience with cloud deployment, static hosting, and establishing CI/CD pipelines with automated checks
  • Strong product thinking, user-centered design principles, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and mentorship skills with a proven ability to influence technical decisions
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance (Level 6C)

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement frontend engineering standards, best practices, and tooling to enhance team productivity and code quality
  • Lead the development of accessible, performant, and user-focused web applications for government clients
  • Design and implement modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructure
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to create optimal UI/UX solutions while balancing implementation effort and user needs
  • Build and maintain component libraries, design systems, and shared infrastructure to promote consistency and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to modernize frontend stacks and lead technical initiatives to improve developer experience and application robustness
  • Mentor and coach engineers across all levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
  • Influence cross-team technical decisions and serve as a strategic advisor on frontend initiatives
  • Work across the full stack when necessary to troubleshoot and solve end-to-end problems, with a focus on frontend solutions
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitor web performance metrics and optimize applications to meet Core Web Vitals standards
