Front End Manager

Reports to Store Manager. Supervises Cashiers and Lead Cashiers. Hourly pay: $25/hour.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service
  • Be familiar with store policies and products and take initiative to help customers with questions.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service while assisting customers and responding to phone calls.
  • Respond to customer suggestions, comments, and complaints.
  • Provide assistance with special orders.
  • Perform cashiering duties as scheduled.
• Cashier Department
  • Ensure accuracy and security of all cash received through the front end by upholding money-handling procedures, checking cashier deposit paperwork, and giving feedback to cashiers on over/shorts.
  • Troubleshoot POS system and work with POS coordinator to ensure prompt correction of pricing and scanning problems.
  • Ensure maintenance of department equipment in working order; advise Store Manager of equipment problems or needs.
  • Develop and maintain cashier training system; maintain and update cashier training manual.
  • Ensure adequate register supplies are available.
  • Coordinate down-time tasks and projects for department staff.
  • Work cashier shifts several days a week.
• Customer Service Desk
  • Schedule coverage of the customer service desk.
  • Train staff in security procedures (e.g., dealing with shoplifters, disorderly customers, robberies, etc.).
  • Maintain a list of repair and maintenance services for staff to call in management’s absence.
• Supervision
  • Hire qualified applicants following established policy.
  • Ensure on-the-job training.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Recommend pay raises within department budget.
  • Take disciplinary action as needed following established policies.
  • Organize meetings of department staff as needed.
  • Schedule staff to provide adequate coverage of shifts based on customer count within the labor budget, assigning breaks and filling in as needed.
  • Review and approve time cards.
  • Ensure staff are aware of price changes, specials, and all changes in store policies and procedures affecting their jobs, as well as general store operations to answer customer questions.
  • Reconcile daily drops and prepare bank deposits.
• General Management
  • Participate in the development of operating and capital budgets for the store.
  • Review financial reports of department performance and take corrective action as needed.
  • Attend Management Team meetings and storewide meetings.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Store Manager.

• Supervisory experience – hiring, training, directing, evaluating, disciplining.
• Experience developing systems and procedures.
• Mastery of all cashier duties.
• Experience serving the public.

• Familiarity with natural foods.

Pay

$25/hour.
