About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Front-End Engineer (Senior/Staff) to join our remote-first team, preferably based in the SF Bay Area or NYC, with flexibility for candidates in the US, Canada, and Europe. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the architecture and development of our energy software platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including product managers, designers, backend engineers, and data scientists—to create scalable, user-centric interfaces that enable automation and human decision-making within a complex energy ecosystem. Your expertise will help translate intricate domain requirements into elegant, intuitive, and high-performance front-end applications, supporting our mission to build a resilient and intelligent energy grid capable of managing increasingly complex energy mixes and large resource fleets.

Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to clean energy and combating climate change
  • Proven experience in frontend or full-stack engineering at scale
  • Extensive development and ownership of complex, data-intensive applications
  • Proficiency with large-scale Typescript and React codebases
  • Strong collaboration skills working with product, design, backend, and data teams
  • Experience designing frontend strategies for visualizing and interacting with large datasets
  • Understanding of data models and API integrations
  • Proficiency in AI-augmented software engineering tools (e.g., Gen AI, LLMs, agentic tools)
  • Knowledge of security best practices, especially in enterprise environments
  • Expertise with modern testing frameworks such as Testing Library, Cypress, and Playwright
  • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration across multiple time zones

Responsibilities

  • Participate in critical frontend architecture decisions and strategic initiatives
  • Design and implement scalable, user-friendly interfaces for complex energy applications
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive user experiences
  • Translate complex domain requirements into elegant UI solutions
  • Develop and maintain large-scale, data-driven frontend components
  • Implement robust testing strategies including unit, functional, and end-to-end tests
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of frontend performance, security, and usability
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate best practices into development processes
