Front Desk Support/Greeter
About the Role
Front Desk Support/Greeter volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm at our Administration Office reception desk. The role involves providing excellent customer service, greeting guests and residents, and assisting with small projects. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy helping behind the scenes and making an impact in their community.
Two shifts are available: 9:00am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
About the Organization
The Boulevard of Chicago serves medically and socially vulnerable people experiencing homelessness by providing medical respite care, behavioral health services, and housing support. The organization embraces a compassionate, client-centered, and holistic philosophy of care and, through strong partnerships, promotes healing and stability to break the cycle of homelessness.
- Medical Respite (Recuperative) Care: Provides short-term residential care for homeless adults who are too ill or injured to recover on the streets or in shelters but do not need to stay in a hospital. This includes a safe place to stay, meals, nursing care, help with medications, and transportation to medical appointments.
- Integrated Physical & Behavioral Health Services: Operates an on-site clinic (in partnership with health providers) delivering primary care, mental health counseling, and substance-use support to address both medical and behavioral health needs together.
- Housing Navigation and Advocacy: Helps residents secure stable housing by coordinating assessments, benefits enrollment, and housing placement, and continues support after residents leave the program to reduce returns to homelessness.
The Boulevard serves over 500 homeless adults annually, helping them recover from physical injury, illness, addiction, or mental health issues. After recovery, the organization assists residents in finding safe housing and building a stable life, with the goal of helping every client leave the homeless experience, hopefully forever.
