Front Desk Representative - Brandon Lakewood
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the check-in and check-out process are handled in an organized and efficient manner, including collecting co-pays and patient balances, obtaining credit card on file agreements, preparing paperwork at the start and end of the clinic days to allow for a smooth patient flow, while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring office/zone is prepared to receive patients by turning on lights, unlocking front doors, and ensuring appropriate sign-in sheets are placed in clipboards on the front desk counter.
- Greeting patients upon arrival by smiling, introducing yourself, and welcoming new patients to the practice.
- Informing patients of any delays in clinic/wait times.
- Providing patient with the intake tablet and instructions on how to use the tablet.
- Assisting patients having difficulty using the tablet.
- Ensuring the patients have completed all the required intake information.
- Obtaining and ensuring the patient's photo identification and insurance card(s) match the information in the patient's Athena account.
- Scanning any new insurance cards and emailing the Benefit Department with any changes.
- Verifying a valid authorization is present in the patient's account in Athena.
- Ensuring the patient's insurance benefits have been verified within the past 90 days.
- Collecting all co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and outstanding patient balances.
- Informing patients of the credit card on file process and obtaining signed agreements.
- Beginning check-in process in Athena.
- Printing any financial agreements or advanced beneficiary notices and obtaining the patient's signature.
- Uploading any outside patient's imaging CDs into Medview PACs system.
- Preparing all paperwork for the next day's clinic.
- Scheduling patients' follow-up appointments.
- Completing end of day batches.
- Processing any required disability form payments.
- Scanning daily batches in Z drive and forwarding any documents for scanning to Patient Records.
- Ensuring clinics run smoothly by informing the Zone Lead or Supervisor of any problems or issues to ensure they are quickly resolved.
- Assuring compliance with all company plans, policies, and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 2 years of experience in a medical environment.
- Intermediate data entry skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must be organized and able to multitask.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in Ortho.
- Athena EMR experience.
- Spanish Bi-Lingual a Plus!

Pay
Starting at $18 an hour.
