Part time, day shift. This is a per diem float position that covers multiple locations in Albany (Hospital Campus and Washington Avenue Extension) and Troy. A 10% premium is paid for float assignments.

About the role

The Senior Registration Associate coordinates clerical duties to ensure the efficient and service-oriented operation of outpatient imaging practices. The role serves as a mentor and leader for the registration team while performing front-end revenue-cycle functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate front-end revenue-cycle tasks: scheduling, registration, check-in, check-out, charge entry/claims, and end-of-day processes.
  • Oversee document processing, scanning, and inbox monitoring.
  • Ensure even distribution of work to meet daily schedules and manage daily staffing needs in coordination with office and float-pool managers.
  • Mentor colleagues and demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Schedule patient appointments to maximize access.
  • Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
  • Register patients, obtain consent forms, and collect demographic data.
  • Collect co-pays at check-in or check-out, document collections, and generate receipts.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff; monitor for delays and inform patients.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, including ancillary and diagnostic tests.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals for specialist visits and diagnostic testing.
  • Accurately pass charges in accordance with office policies.
  • Perform daily parsing to electronically file information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with accuracy.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate respectfully with providers, staff, colleagues, and managers.
  • Cross-cover other areas as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Experience delivering successful customer service.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience managing difficult customers respectfully and without confrontation.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Pay

$20.50 per hour plus a 10% premium for float assignments. Pay is based on experience. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
