About the Practice
Heaton Eye Associates has been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. We provide a wide range of premium lenses, including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses, to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another option for freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist and the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery, as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area. About the Area
Our East Texas locations in Tyler, Longview, and Athens offer year-round family-friendly activities. Longview provides a rich history and cultural experiences. Tyler is surrounded by 25 prime sporting lakes, ideal for fishing and boating, and is known for its vibrant spring flowers. Athens, known as "Hamburgers-Heritage-Texas," combines small-town charm with larger-city amenities and is home to the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society.
Responsibilities
- Check in patients: greet within 5 feet, verify insurance, address, phone number, and email, and enter demographics accurately into the system.
- Check out patients: total charges accurately, request co-pays, deductibles, or full payments, gather emails, and schedule follow-up appointments or recalls.
- Prepare practice schedules: ensure schedules are ready for the next day, highlight appointments needing paperwork, and handle no-show cards, phone calls, and recalls.
- Document and follow up on no-shows, monitor trends, and alert administration when necessary.
- Close down the front desk: balance batches, prepare PO charts, balance change drawers, and maintain lobby cleanliness and comfort.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and attendance.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Minimum one-year office experience.
- Minimum six months medical office experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills
- General knowledge of practice management software.
- Positive attitude and dependability.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle patient complaints professionally.
- Bilingual preferred.
Schedule
Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM–5:30 PM (hours may vary).
