Responsibilities

  • Greet each patient in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Schedule appointments and handle referrals.
  • Take and record accurate phone messages.
  • Enter patient demographics and verify chart data.
  • Check-in and check-out patients, ensuring all necessary signatures are obtained.
  • Collect patient payments and update product inventory.
  • Proactively collect payments and track inventory orders.
  • Close-end day reports and balance payment totals.
  • Distribute incoming reports, correspondence, and mail.
  • Assist other staff members as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • 1-3 years recent experience as a Medical Receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting (preferred).
  • Previous experience in Dermatology (preferred).

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of multi-line phone systems.
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment (computer, fax, copier, scanner).
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) utilization.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly.
  • Ability to travel and cover other local offices as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting, some standing, stooping, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard.
  • Correctable vision to 20/20 and hearing within a normal range for telephone contacts.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
