Front Desk Monitor/Client Care Specialist

Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.

About the role

The Front Desk Monitor/Client Care Specialist ensures the safety and security of clients, staff, and facility. Responsibilities include receiving and assisting clients, routing deliveries, aiding residents, controlling front door access, and assisting with intake and orientation. This role is based at Victory II, a facility providing comprehensive services and safe, anonymous housing for individuals and their children experiencing domestic violence.

Responsibilities

• Greet all visitors; assist them directly or announce their arrival to staff or residents.
• Assist with intake process.
• Ensure lodging sheets are signed daily.
• Ensure SORTS is updated daily in an accurate manner.
• Ensure all clients sign in and out daily as required.
• Route mail and deliveries as required.
• Handle or assist in crisis intervention.
• Follow assigned procedures in emergency situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must possess a polite and pleasant manner, be efficient and firm, and have the ability to operate a busy front desk/security operation.
• Must be able to perform diverse tasks with ease and maintain confidentiality.
• Certifications required upon hire: Fire Guard (F-02).
• Certifications required within 90 days of hire (VOA will cover the cost): CPR/First Aid, Narcan.
• Candidates with related experience in domestic violence preferred.
