Duties And Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients like they are VIPs (while still taking your job seriously).
- Check patients in for appointments, verify their demographic information, and update any changes in their records without breaking a sweat.
- Collect necessary documents and forms from patients, such as insurance information and consent forms.
- Scan, fax, check messages.
- Schedule appointments like a pro.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquires, and direct calls to the appropriate department.
- Process patient payments.
- Cook with the medical staff to ensure a smooth flow of patients and communicate any delays.
- Maintain patients confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
- Any additional tasks or responsibilities that arise with the evolving needs of our office.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent, additional education or certification in health care is a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role, in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Excellent personal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff in a calm, friendly presence, even during flu season.
- Proficient in using computer system, electronic medical record (EMR), eClinical, software, and basic office equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with insurance processes.
