Front Desk Medical Assistant
About the role
The Medical Assistant works directly with a Physician to assist in the examination and interviewing of patients and perform basic office duties. This is an on-site position. Medical Assistants receive clinical supervision and direction solely from licensed providers; the Clinic Operation Manager provides administrative and operational oversight only.
Responsibilities
- Works directly with Physicians to assist in the assessment and examination of patients.
- Records patient subjective information and concerns and enters all information into the BHCEMR system.
- Periodically checks on patient welfare until the Physician begins examination or procedure.
- Assists Physician in completing patient request forms.
- Performs daily exam room and stock room inspection to ensure supplies are adequate for patient care.
- Performs additional responsibilities as appropriate to the role and scope of practice.
- May be asked to travel to other office locations to assist Physicians as needed.
- Assumes other responsibilities as appropriate to the position and organizational needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
- Current BCLS with AED certificates.
- Experience in a medical clinic, hospital, or SNF setting: 1 year.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical documentation.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Must be comfortable using Electronic Medical Record software (training provided).
- Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with patients, medical professionals, and co-workers.
- Knowledge of all state and federal regulations pertaining to confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA, treatment, and safety guidelines.
- Ability to anticipate patient needs and take proactive measures to meet those needs and resolve issues (within scope of practice).
- Flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others as an effective team member.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Pay
Compensation Range: $22.00 to $24.00 hourly. All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
