About the role

The Front Desk Clerk is responsible for accommodating hotel patrons by registering and assigning rooms, securing payment methods, issuing room keys, managing messages and records, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statements to guests. This position provides attentive, courteous, and professional customer service to all customers, striving to exceed expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Computes bills, posts charges, collects payments, and makes change for guests.
  • Reconciles daily paperwork and completes end-of-shift reports.
  • Makes and confirms reservations for guests.
  • Provides attentive, cheerful, courteous, and professional service to all customers.
  • Reports safety and security hazards to the proper authority.
  • Keeps records of room availability and guest accounts.
  • Promotes and sells property services, including packages, tickets, and promotions.
  • Transmits and receives messages, sets wake-up calls, and routes calls to guest rooms or other departments.
  • Issues room keys and answers inquiries, providing general information.
  • Maintains a cash drawer and communicates with housekeeping staff on room status.
  • Handles paging for the Casino complex and maintains a log of maintenance issues.
  • Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists Bell/Valet with luggage and parking vehicles as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment and quality service standards.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Ability to use office machines such as calculators, copiers, fax machines, printers, and computers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Native American preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation under National Indian Gaming Commission rules.
  • Must complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.

Skills

  • Customer service and satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Proficiency in office software and equipment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary position with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
  • Constant standing, use of hearing, and typing; frequent walking, pushing/pulling, and use of near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, and color/field of vision.
  • Frequent bending and exposure to noise and air quality.
  • Occasional exposure to weather, extreme heat/cold, and wet/humidity.
  • Potential hazards include frequent computer use and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and chemicals.
